The survey responses from two different programs 2016-2024 show:

In both of these programs we have had 263 participants from 73 companies with 42% women among our participants who have been aged from 14 to 90. 1/3 of all participants want further follow-up immediately after the program in law, tax or coaching.

During the years 2016-2022, we had a year-long program with a mix of physical meetings and digital meetings. After one year of using our methodology, 40% of the participating companies completed their ownership change. The digital program Skifta Rikt ran over 3 months. Our 181 participants from 50 companies throughout the country answered the survey as follows:

99%

Listen to Henrik from Kil about the preparatory work that made the latest investment on the farm possible. Business plan and participation in Skifta Rikt brought him to his goal as a long-term sustainable, investing owner on the farm.

Listen to Ivar in Falkenberg about how he and his family progressed in their change of ownership with the help of the process management and methodology in Skifta Rikt, which is run by UTSIKT afsvarsutveckling AB.

Comments from past participants

"It cannot be stressed enough how important it is to get support in this type of ownership change process, a farm is not only a business but also often a home/a place that has been passed down for generations, a place that an entire family is attached to/has memories of and dreams about. All the emotions and memories make it incredibly difficult to shift and find solutions and move forward in the process. Even if everyone involved wants the farm to remain in the family, it can be difficult to agree on the financial conditions that this requires, for example, it may not be completely fair."

Caroline, successor in 2024

“So educational. I felt completely confident in the process after finishing the program. Before the shift I had already started a process, but in the meantime I changed and did better.”

Johanna, successor 2023

"Very important, it is a process that can take a long time to implement and it is important that it is good and reasonably fair as there are great economic values in agriculture and forestry today. It is also important if there is no one in the family who wants to take over that there is an opportunity for someone outside to be able to take over. This is important for Sweden to secure future food supplies for the country's population that we have a strong agriculture, not least from a preparedness point of view."

Gustaf, transferor 2023

"The mentoring program for sustainable leaders led by Erika Ekesbo Andrén has been developmental to say the least! Getting a personal mentor, the opportunity to meet others in the green industry, exciting visits to larger companies and new contacts are just some of the benefits of taking the program! For me, it has been a personal development that has resulted in me being able to take my company to the next step!"

Michael Skaret, founder Nordamark AB, Skövde

"Getting help with all the soft issues is the basis for feeling good after a generational change. If the "family" is to function well afterwards, you have to dig into the "unauthorized" thoughts about justice, new roles, changed "power". In a family, you have gradually built up a structure with parents and children, the children help the parents in the company - then you, as the transferor, have to hand over your life's work - the child is now an adult and capable of taking on the role of entrepreneur - I, as the transferor, have to let go of the grip and be safe and content with it."

Ann-Marie, transferor 2024

"I think it's great to get to know yourself by teaching others about entrepreneurship. Always good to meet other entrepreneurs in networks. You also look at your own business, so set aside time, otherwise you'll run through this, which is a really good thing. It's a strong recommendation from me to be a mentor in the Sustainable Leaders program."

Eddy Lundkvist, Mentor, The Little Tavern, Skövde

"I have learned that the soft questions mean a lot more than I thought before the course. And it is important to get everyone involved before the change of ownership. Also, to distinguish between the change of ownership and operations, which I did not do before. Thank you for the good coaching."

Gustav Hilmér, Hilmér Lantbruks AB, Mellerud

“It gave me much more than I had expected! I thought I had come a long way in the process before I joined Skifta Rikt. But it turned out that I had no idea. I thought, “how hard can it be – you just have to decide” – but there was so much more that I hadn’t thought of. So now it’s time to start over from scratch – and it doesn’t matter – the most important thing is that everyone is satisfied and that we are striving in the same direction.”

"I think the program gave a new perspective on how to think about a change of ownership. That it's not all about money and legal issues, but that there can be a lot of emotions and deeper thoughts that guide the change of ownership for both the transferor and the transferee."

Anna, transferor 2024

"In our ongoing generational shift, we adult children felt that we didn't know what steps to take. Everything was very messy and mentally difficult and we tried to find help with this but it felt like no one wanted to take this on. But then we came across Skifta Rikt on social media and it felt like we had found something. So we got in touch with them and so in this ongoing shift, it feels like if we hadn't come across this, I don't know how it would have ended. If there had been a digital platform today, it could have helped us at a much earlier stage and with less negative consequences than we have experienced."

Welcome to Skifta Rikt
Case
Case Valla Tax Court, Vadstena

For our family, the initial conversations with Erika and the soft values meant everything for a successful generational change. It provided the conditions for everyone involved, my wife and our two sons respectively, to feel what I want deep down? Is this my dream or is it perhaps the beginning of a nightmare. Our conversations resolved this and our dreams became reality with Erika's help, to talk about feelings, expectations and wishes before we mixed in kronor and öre.
